How do I translate text?
Section titled “How do I translate text?”- Choose the languages at the top of the sidebar: From (or Auto-detect) and To.
- Select the text in your document.
- Click Translate selection. The translation appears in the sidebar with every word clickable: click a word to look it up the other way round (for example an English word in a Vietnamese → English translation shows its Vietnamese meanings), hear it and save it to My words. Click Insert to put the translation into the document in place of the selected text (or at the cursor if nothing is selected), or copy it with the copy button; edit it in the document afterwards if needed.
How do I change or swap the languages?
Section titled “How do I change or swap the languages?”Click From or To at the top of the sidebar and pick a language; you can type to search the list (for example “viet”) and press Enter. With Auto-detect, the add-on recognises the language of your selection when you translate and shows it at the top as “Detected: Japanese” (for example); readings, word lookups and pronunciation then use that language. A single word, or a few Chinese characters that could also be Japanese, may stay “Auto-detect”; choose the language yourself in that case. The ⇄ button swaps the two languages, including a detected one. Your choice is remembered for the document and for your next documents.
