Chat

The Chat tab lets you practise a language by talking. The language you practise is the To language, and your own language is From. Type what you want to say in your own language: you get the natural sentence in the language you practise, and the AI partner answers in that language with a translation underneath. You can also type in the language you practise: the AI then corrects your line, and it is read aloud in that language. If From and To are the same language (for example, you want to talk in English and your own language is English too), there is no translation: you type in that language and the AI answers in it, and every word is still tappable. Every word (in both languages) is tappable: it opens the dictionary, where you can listen and save it to My words. The speaker button reads a sentence aloud so you can say it after it. Pick your level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced) at the top, or start with a suggestion such as talking about your day, a job interview, or the text you have selected in your document. The AI also tries to use some of the words that are due for review. Start a new conversation with the button at the top. Limits: 10 chat turns per day on Free and 100 on Pro (see the Plan tab); they count in the monthly fair-use limit. A speaker press counts as a pronunciation. The chat is only for learning languages: the AI keeps to everyday conversation, study, work and culture, politely declines other topics and keeps answers suitable for all ages, so it is also fine for students. The chat history stays in your sidebar and is not saved by the add-on; closing the sidebar clears it. Your lines are sent to Anthropic’s Claude to write the answers.
